Somerville PK-8 School Building Project

New PK-8 School Building Survey and Focus Group Summaries 

Over 2,400 community members shared their opinions on key questions facing the City and CAG through a survey developed by members the CAG along with the urban planning firm, DREAM Collaborative, and City staff. A series of focus groups was also conducted to provide additional insight into the “why” behind people’s preferences for the school.

Reports on both of these community input opportunities were presented to the CAG at their October 27 meeting and are available below:

Construction Advisory Group

NOTE: The next meeting of the School Construction Advisory Group will take place on November 10, 2025. Details can be found here.

The Somerville School Construction Advisory Group will help develop recommendations on the location and scope of the new school, which will be considered by the Mayor. The Advisory Group will spend a period of approximately 14 months developing a recommendation on whether the project scope should focus solely on the Winter Hill School or if it should include the Brown School as well, and where a new school could be located.

Members selected for the Construction Advisory Group to date include the following. Remaining positions including for teachers, students, and potentially additional community group representatives, will be shared when filled.
